China has always been a nation that produces exceptionally athletic individuals. This is due to the country's determined effort to develope physical talent at a tertiary level. There are a number of word-class sports universities that exist throughout the nation that have contributed to the progress of sport and physical education. Beijing Sport University (BSU), Formerly known as the Central Institute of Physical Training and as The Beijing Institute of Physical training is a National Key university located in Beijing, China. Being one of the project 211 universities it is directly under the guidence of the General Administration of Sports of China. Consistently ranked in the top end in terms of sports universiities and as an elite university with a 6 star status by CUAA, the university shares a prestigious reputation not ony in China but abroad.
Shanghai University of Sport (SUS) is a public university situated in Yangpu District, Shanghai, China. This intsitution was the first of its kind in main land China. Established in November 1952 SUS has played a pivotal role in the development of young athelets. The university was formerly directly under the leadership of the general Adminstration of Sports of China but since 2001 it is jointly managed by the the Shanghai Municipal Government and the General Administration of Sports of China.
Tianjin University of Sport is a university in HeXi District, Tianjin under the administration of the municipal government. It was founded in August 1958 to meet the employment needs physical education teaches in the northern part of China. Since the beginninf of2009 the university has been noted to have two colleges and seven departments. It has been noticed world wide for its excellent teaching and research in sports science with particular mention in sports sociology and exercise physiology.
