combining professional skills, liberal education and foreign language
application, and trains high-quality professionals with varied learning and
expertise.
LIT adheres to the mission of combining production and
teaching, creates the characteristic of "Campus in the Park, and Park in
the Campus", and integrates campus teaching with enterprise practice. LIT
has established Lingnan Science Park (as part of Guangzhou Tianhe Software
Park) and Lingnan Entrepreneurship Park (as part of Guangdong Provincial
Entrepreneurship Training Base for University Graduates), currently housing
more than 30 high-tech enterprises, and providing a professional environment
for student internships and training practice. LIT has partnered with nearly
100 enterprises from Guangzhou Science Park and Guangzhou Economic Development
Zone for cooperation in teaching and training, and established links with more
than 1,000 employers in the Pearl River Delta region for student internships
and employment opportunities.
From international and advanced vocational education perspectives, LIT aims to
meet the demand for international and skilled personnel, reform training
models, and strengthen international exchange and cooperation. To train
students for entering international and domestic job markets, and enhancing
international and domestic communication skills and knowledge, LIT has
established international partnerships with educational institutions in the
United States, Japan, Korea, the UK, Germany, India, Singapore, and Australia,
and formed friendship relations with 7 institutions in Taiwan. Over the last
two years, dozens of teachers and students have participated in international
exchange programs, paving the way for further development in
internationization.
LIT has made significant achievements in recent years. In
2006, we successfully passed the assessment of vocational training level by the
Ministry of Education; in 2008, successfully held the Forum on the 30th
Anniversary of China's Open-Door Policy, Reform and Private Vocational
Education. In 2009, we successfully co-hosted the First Annual Conference of
Vocational Education in National Development Zones. LIT has been named as one
of "Top 10 Private Institutions of Higher Education in Guangdong Province
for Student Employment Competitiveness", one of "Top 3 Guangdong
Private Institutions of Vocational Education for Competitiveness Ranking",
the title of "National Advanced Institution for Student Employment",
and one of "2009 National Best-Known Private Universities". The
employment rates for LIT graduates in 2007, 2008, and 2009 were 99.66%, 99.36%,
and 99.43%, the highest in Guangdong Province.
LIT has also established the School of Continuing Education
and Training, and Luogang Community School in cooperation with Jilin University
and Tianjin University, to offer distance and adult education programs.
In support of financially disadvantaged students, LIT provides assistance for
them in applying for government study loans so as to ensure that the students
can successfully complete their education. Since 2003, we have operated the
"Lingnan Education Funds" and offered a million yuan RMB every year
to help financially disadvantaged students who are high academic achievers, and
determined to serve education for remote and mountain regions.
Adhering to the motto of "Virtue, Diligent, Able,
Self-Reliance", LIT will focus on student capabilities, continue close
cooperation with enterprises, and create a first-class institution for
vocational education.
