Xi’an Shiyou University (XSYU) was founded in 1951, which is the only university in northwest China characterized by petroleum and petro-chemistry. The university stands at the High & New-tech Development Zone of Xi’an. The university enrolls students from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions in China. Currently the enrollment of postgraduates and undergraduates is approximately 16,000 students, besides; there are more than 270 international students and over 10,000 continuing education students. Since the founding of the university, the XSYU has awarded degrees to over 100,000 qualified graduates. Xi’an Shiyou University consists of 13 colleges and 4 departments. XSYU offers 49 undergraduate programs, among which 5 are Provincial Named Specialties, 30 graduate programs, 1 program for jointly-cultivate doctor candidates, and 11 application-oriented Engineering Master’s Degree programs. XSYU has 7 key disciplines and 18 key laboratories (research centers) at the provincial or ministerial level, 13 Provincial Competitive Courses and 4 Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. The university has 1,600 faculties and staffs, including 973 full-time teachers, among which there are over 500 professors, associate professors and other teachers with equivalent professional titles, more than 620 doctor’s degree or master’s degree holders, over 220 doctorate advisors or graduate supervisors, 14 experts with Outstanding Contributions at national, ministerial and provincial level, and 23 experts enjoying the Special Government Allowance; 13 national or provincial Excellent Teachers and 5 Cross-Century Disciplinary Forgoers at provincial level, 89 part-time professors at home and abroad.
