The third session of the third Faculty and Staff Congress convened successfully
As the spring rotates back to the earth, all are animated. The third session of the third Faculty and Staff Congress was held at the auditorium of Teaching Building 3 on March 11th.
School leaders Lv Chuanyi, Zhang Tiezhou, Yi Yuchen, Hu Xingyu, Liu Guohua, Zhang Xiangyun, Wang Liping, Wei Xiuting, Zhaoyu Xi, Yi Weiming attended the meeting. There were nearly 300 official, non-voting and invited delegates for the meeting.
Party Secretary Lv Chuanyi presided over the preparatory and the opening meetings.
He pointed out that the University set 2017 as the year of implementation in detail, so we shall put emphasis on this Faculty and Staff Congress, which was significant in further clarifying the goals, tasks and key initiatives in 2017, arousing the enthusiasm and initiative of the faculty and staff, further deepening the comprehensive reform, and speeding up the intensive development. He hoped that all the delegates should bear the awareness of sharing the same goal with the initiative spirit as well as a high sense of responsibility and mission, seriously fulfilling the duties of delegates to actively offer advice and suggestions, and conducting the in-depth discussion on SDUT’s work report and other documents for a better plan of SDUT’s goals and tasks.
Hope that all faculty and staff to the convening of this meeting as an opportunity to unify the ideological understanding of the school decision-making deployment, focus on the target, boost the spirit, work hard, and strive to the spirit of the meeting, the development of blueprint into the development of specific Initiatives and practical actions, do a good job throughout the year to do a good job, for the smooth realization of a spirit and a plan to determine the objectives and tasks to lay a solid foundation. He also pointed out that all the faculty and staff should take the Congress as an opportunity to determine all goals and tasks concerned, making preparation for “A Spirit” and “A Plan”.
On behalf of the administrative staff, Zhang Tiezhu, Deputy Secretary of SDUT’s Party Committee and President, made a work report, titled Go All out to Turn SDUT into a High-level and Well-known Teaching & Research-oriented University in China. The report is divided into three parts: the reviews on SDUT’s work in 2016, the overall requirements of the 2017 work and the main indicators, and the important tasks in 2017.
The work report comprehensively reviewed the achievements in the various undertakings of SDUT in 2016: the development of SDUT has been scientifically planned; the building of disciplines and majors has come up to a new stage; the quality of application-oriented talents training has been improved steadily; there is new progress in scientific research and social services; there are remarkable results in the student education management services; ideological and cultural construction has been enhanced in an all-round way; the availability of support for management services has been improved; the Party building has been fully strengthened; the livelihood projects continue to advance. While fully affirming the achievements, the report also points out some shortcomings in the development of the University.
As the work report pointed out, 2017 witnesses seven key aspects of the work: First, we shall adhere to the faculty team building as a primary project, vigorously implementing the talent priority strategy. Second, we shall stick to the discipline building, putting scientific research in a more prominent position and making efforts to promote the “Double First-class construction. Third, we shall further deepen the reform of education and teaching, comprehensively improving the quality of applied talents. Fourth, we shall strengthen the educational management services to promote students'’ growth and turn them into talents. Five, we shall deepen the strategic cooperation, vigorously promoting education in an open manner. Six, we shall improve the conditions of education, firmly safeguarding the rapid development of the school. Seven, we shall put into practice the political responsibilities of running the Party rigorously, strengthening the Party building in a comprehensive and continuous way.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Hu Xingyu, Deputy Secretary of SDUT’s Party Committee.
Du Jize, Deputy Director of the Working Committee of Proposals, made a work report of proposals, informing the implementation of the proposals submitted to the second session of the third Faculty and Staff Congress, and the collection of the proposal for this session.
After voting, the Congress passed the resolutions on the work report of SDUT, the working regulations of the Working Committee of Proposals under the Congress, the rules of submitting proposals to the Congress, and the regulations of the Faculty and Staff Congress (secondary-level).
Hu Xingyu made a request to implement the spirit of the meeting.
With the agenda successfully completed, the third session of the Faculty and Staff Congress of SDUT came to an end.
The second session of the third conference (enlarged) of the SDUT’s Party Committee convened
SDUT held the second session of the third conference (enlarged) of the SDUT’s Party Committee from February 24th to 25th, summing up the work of 2016, analyzing the current situation, opportunities and challenges of SDUT, as well as discussing the reform for SDUT’s science and research system, the reform for eliminating the administrative levels in SDUT’s subordinate school. And the participants also exchanged views on further carrying out the talent priority strategy and putting into practice the spirit of the SDUT’s Third Party Congress and the completion of objectives and tasks of the 13th Five-Year Plan”, and the arrangements for deploying work of 2017.
On behalf of the Standing Committee of the SDUT’s Party Committee, Zhang Tiezhu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President, reported on the SDUT’s work in 2016, and arranged the deployment of work in 2017.
Zhang Tiezhu summed up the work of the school from three aspects: First, grasp the development trend, strengthen the top design, and depict a blueprint for the SDUT’s future development; second, improve the quality in an all-around way, highlight the key tasks, and pay close attention to the implementation of the work, in order to achieve remarkable results in the discipline building, the talent team building, and serving the community; third, highlight the ideological leadership, strengthen the “Four Kinds of Awareness, and enhance the Party building. At the same time, he also pointed out that SDUT needs to improve the work in the following aspects, including the modern university system, the new concept of talent training, teachers’ internal motivation to development, academic advantages and features of each discipline, the original innovation ability, awareness and ability of getting access to social resources, and building an internationally oriented school.
As for the work in 2017, he stressed the following points.

Five, we shall deepen the strategic cooperation, vigorously promoting education in an open manner. Six, we shall follow the internationally oriented course of development, enhancing the international level of education. Seven, we shall strengthen the service and logistic system, firmly safeguarding the development of the school. Eight, we shall put into practice the political responsibilities of running the Party rigorously, strengthening the Party building in a comprehensive way.
Party Secretary Lv Chuanyi made a speech, pointing out that 2016 is a year for Shandong University of Technology to nail down its top design. The University set 2017 as the year of implementation in detail, which required all the Communist Party members, the cadres, teachers and students to carry forward the “spirit of nails”, insisting on drawing a correct blueprint till the end. As soon as the work was put in hand, , it needs to be well done with a good result.
To implement the work of 2017 in detail, he proposed the following points. First, set the goal high and clear. Second, take the initiative to claim tasks with courage. Third, split up tasks and assign them to individuals. Fourth, strengthen coordination with a skillful arrangement of position filling. Fifth, strengthen the investigation with strict supervision.
On strengthening the Party building, Lv Chuanyi proposed several points. First, strengthen the ideological construction. Second, strengthen the building of cadres. Third, promote the anti-corruption building.
On behalf of the SDUT’s Party Committee and the administrative staff, Lv Chuanyi and Zhang Tiezhu, signed the agreements of the annual objectives and duties with the representatives from the departments and the subordinate schools at the meeting.
Deputy Director of the Department of Education of Shandong Province visits SDUT for a survey
On the afternoon of March 16, Wang Tan, Deputy Director of the Department of Education of Shandong Province, and Wang Zhigang, Deputy Director of the Department of Vocational Education under the provincial Department of Education, visited SDUT for a survey. President Zhang Tiezhu, Yi Yuchen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Vice Presidents Wang Libin and Zha Yuxi warmly received Wang Tan and Wang Zhigang at the VIP Room of Xinyuan Hotel, holding a discussion there.
Zhang Tiezhu warmly welcomed the arrival of Wang Tan, expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Education for its long-term support and concern for the development of SDUT. Zhang Tiezhu pointed out that in 2017 the school would deepen the strategic cooperation, accelerate the cooperation in running schools, actively and orderly promoting the construction of Qingdao Institute, and expanding the SDUT’s development platform for a brighter future.
Wang Tan highly recognized the SDUT’s achievements in strengthening the school and the local city cooperation, running the school in a comprehensive and open manner, and exploring ways to build the school in cooperation. He believed that SDUT would adhere to turning itself into the “Double First-class school after seizing the opportunities of good government policies, playing its own advantages, expanding the space of education, and gathering talent resources in order to promote the SDUT’s development with cohesive efforts.
New progress made in the international exchange of outstanding undergraduates
Recently, the National Study Fund Management Committee announced the reviewed results for the 2017 “Outstanding Undergraduate International Exchange Project”. SDUT acclaimed four funded projects, ranked first among the provincial-level colleges and universities.
The four projects approved are the ones targeting at the University of California, Davis, Latvia Riga University of Technology, Korea Sungkyunkwan University and South Korea KonkukUniversity, with a total of 13 candidates for exchange.
