Commencement 2017 for Graduate Students Held in NCEPU
North China Electric Power University held commencement and degree awarding ceremony for graduate students in Beijing and Baoding campus on 30th March and 31st March respectively.
University leaders, relevant functional departments, deans of schools, 143 PhD students as well as 3,507 graduate students attended the degree awarding ceremony which was hosted by Vice President Lyu Fangcheng, vice chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of NCEPU.
University leaders presented the awards to the winners and diplomas to the representatives of the graduate students.Vice President Wang Zengping who is also the vice chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee of NCEPU announced the resolution for degree awarding by the committee. Then the staff announced the winners of excellent dissertation and outstanding graduate student.
Yang Yongping, president of NCEPU and chairman of the Academic Degree Evaluation Committee, gave a speech titled Cherish the Youth and Contribute To Society At Full Stretch expressing congratulations to all the graduate students and gratitude to their teachers, families and friends who made contributions to their growth and success. President Yang pointed out that after the graduation, graduates would leave the campus and step into the society with knowledge and gains they obtained in the university. They would go to all parts of the country and even all parts of the world to start a new journey of life. They would be no longer the students but the alumnus of NCEPU, and they would finish their university learning career and become employees to start their working career. All these changes would offer them new life experiences in which there would be more fascinating stories and opportunities. However, the graduates also would confront many challenges and hardships which are much more arduous and complicated, which would cultivate and enhance them during their new journey to the society.

Vice President Li Shuangchen Visited Four Universities In Australia And New Zealand
Li Shuangchen, the Vice President of North China Electric Power University, led a delegation to visit University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, Australian National University and Victoria University of Wellington during 12th to 19th March and received warm welcome from these universities as well as the Office of Educational Affairs of the Embassy of the P.R.China in Australia. This visit, as a response to the NCEPU's 13th Five-Year Plan which calls for further exchanges and cooperation with overseas high-level colleges and universities for better overseas recruitment and publicity, laid a solid foundation for dual culture and cooperation with colleges and universities in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, NCEPU's delegation successfully hold a recruitment meeting targeting the high-level talents during this visit.
During this visit, Vice President Li Shuangchen and the delegation had confabulated with University of New South Wales and signed the memorandum of cooperation. They also exchanged opinions on enhancing cooperation on scientific research and students exchanges with international cooperation department and related colleges of University of Sydney and Victoria University of Wellington. What’s more, the delegation met with Professor Dong Chaoyang, dean of the School of Electric and Information Engineering and Professor Li Yonghui, director of the wireless communication engineering laboratory from University of Sydney, Professor Huang Shujuan and Doctor Ouyang Zi, specialists of solar energy from University of New South Wales, Professor Liu Yun, director of the functional material research team of Chemical Research Institute from Australian National University, and Professor Zhang Mengjie, dean of the School of Engineering from Victoria University of Wellington. The delegation also visited their laboratories and discussed enhancing cooperation on scientific research with them.
The special job fair in Canberra earned supports from the Office of Educational Affairs of the Embassy of the P.R.China in Australia and the Chinese Society. Xu Xiao, a minister-counsellor of the Office of Educational Affairs addressed on the job fair. The fair attracted 18 senior scholars from the Australian National University, Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization and other institutions and dozens of overseas students, bridging these applicants and the NCEPU.
NCEPU’s Confucius Institute at West Kentucky University Reported to the Minister-Councellor Cen of the Office of Educational Affairs of the Embassy of P.R.China in USA
On March 9, Ms. Li Bo, the Chinese Dean of the North China Electric Power University’s(NCPEU) Confucius Institute at the West Kentucky University, attended the symposium for deans of Confucius Institutes, hosted by Minister-Councellor Cen of the Office of Educational Affairs of the Embassy of P.R.China in USA .
This symposium mainly discussed the work of Confucius Institutes in USA and the long-term strategy of promoting Chinese language in the future as well as American local policies and programs of Chinese teaching. At the meeting, Ms. Li Bo give a comprehensive introduction of the Confucius Institute at West Kentucky University Minister-Counsellor Cen praised the performance that this Confucius Institute had made and subsumed it in the best of the Confucius Institutes around the world.
Mr. Cen gladly mentioned his investigation and research trip to the NCEPU which deeply impressed him. In addition, the deans of Confucius Institute in Washington district presented their work respectively and discussed many problems they have been confronted with and talked about possible solutions for them.
