President Liu Meetting with BCA Delegation
President Liu Hong met with BCA delegation on November 29, 2016. DUFL’s connection with BCA goes back to the 1990s. BCA Study Abroad now facilitates opportunities for growth in intercultural understanding and global awareness through educational programs that foster scholarship, community engagement and guided reflective learning. The delegation, headed by Julie Larison, Executive Director of BAC Study Abroad, came on the basis of further exchange of both teachers and students. Also present at the meeting were heads of International Exchange and Cooperation Office, School of English Studies, School of International Business and School of Chinese Studies.
President Liu extended a warm welcome and sincere gratitude for their support and assistance of the mutual exchange and cooperation for the past decades. She said that this year marked the 30th anniversary since the beginning of exchange and cooperation with BCA. On the basis of mutual trust and close collaboration, there are fruitful achievements in programs of students’ exchange and teachers’ communication. During the meeting, they conducted in-depth discussions to promote further exchange and cooperation as well as academic and research collaboration.
President Liu stressed that DUFL will continue to promote the construction of international projects and strengthen the collaboration and internationalization among teachers and experts in the next five years. Meanwhile, through the exchange and cooperation between the two institutions and China Scholarship Council and other exchange channels, it will keep promoting more academic exchange and scientific research cooperation with BCA and will actively broaden channels for student exchanges and continuously diversify the internationalized education programs. DUFL will also welcome more students from BCA and provide a greater selection of professional courses and field trips. During the meeting,
President Liu issued her invitation to Julie Larison for the next annual International Exchange Week at DUFL. “BCA Day” will be part of the event.
Julie Larison expressed her gratitude for the hospitality and her cooperative wishes. She said she will plan to send more students to DUFL in the coming year.
Both sides agreed on the new short-term customized programs “Chinese +Trade” for American students.
During the visit, the delegation also met with the faculty and students from the School of English Studies and delivered a lecture entitled “President Trump of the United States.”
Professor Shi Zidong Wins Award on “Pearl of Silk Road & Dushanbe International Exhibition of the Works by Artists for Peace”
In last few days, Prof. Shi Zidong of International Academy of Arts, attended the “Pearl of Silk Road & Dushanbe International Exhibition of The Works by Artists for Peace” held in National Museum of Tajikistan. The drawings on this Exhibition are from more than 40 countries and areas such as China, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Italy, Estonia, Armenia, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries.
During the Exhibition, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon, and Vice Chairman of China Association for International Friendly Contact, National Anti-Terrorism Security Officer and Mr. Cheng Guoping, former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, who leads the China “Peace Tour” Artists Delegation, attended the exhibition. Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon presented six international artists with golden, silver and bronze awards for this Exhibition, and met the Artists Delegations of all participating countries. The Chinese artists Zheng Yi, Deputy Party Secretary of Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, and Gu Zong, Dean of the Department of Arts and Design of Academy of Arts and Media of Beijing Normal University, were awarded with golden and silver prizes.
Tajikistan Culture Minister Orumbekzoda Shamsiddin, and President of Academy of Arts and Science Olimdzho Rabiev, awarded Certificate of Honor Academician of Tajikistan Arts and Science Academy, and Medal of Arts of Tajikistan National Flag Ribbon to the Chinese artists, including Shi Zidong, Professor of International Academy of Arts of Dalian University of Foreign Languages, Zheng Yi, Deputy Party Secretary of Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, Gu Zong, Dean of the Department of Arts and Design of Academy of Arts and Media in Beijing Normal University, Wang Hongliang, Professor of Sculpture Department of Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, Hu Xianjing, master violinmaker of China Broadcast Orchestra, Zhang Zhimin, President of Shandong University of Arts and Chairman of Shandong Artists Association, Zhang Leizhen, Vice President of Xinjiang Fine Arts Academy and Vice Executive Chairman of Xinjiang Oil Painting Association. Besides, the painting works of Professor Shi Zidong were collected by Tajikistan National Museum.
This Painting Exhibition is co-sponsored by Artists For International Peace Alliance, Silk Road Peace Funds, Beijing Peace Tour Culture Exchange Center and the Government of Republic of Tajikistan and its Academy of Arts and Science, with the aim of promoting the friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and Tajikistan, further deepening mutual understanding between China and Central Asian countries and strengthening the exchanges and cooperation under the framework of the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization). The Exhibition, as one of the activities of countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt, not only provided a great opportunity for the world to understand Tajikistan, but also serves as a stage to promote mutual exchanges and friendship in culture and art and other fields among these countries.

“Peace Tour”, established in 2003, is an abbreviation of “World Famous Chinese Artists Committee for Global Peace Tour” and “Beijing Peace Tour Cultural Exchange Center”. It is a non-governmental organization specializes in international cultural exchange activity. “Peace Tour” has organized some cultural activities such as “Silk Road – Peace Tour”, “International Exhibition of The Works by Artists for Peace”, “Silk Road Cultural Cooperation Award”, which scored increasing attention from many countries in the world, and had been a major force in Chinese diplomacy. DUFL Educational Development Foundation Inaugurated
The inauguration ceremony of the DUFL Educational Development Foundation (EDF) of Liaoning Province was held in Room 601, Chengzhi Building on Nov. 5th, 2016. Nearly 100 people including university leaders, alumni from Dalian and directors of departments, attended the ceremony, which was chaired by Vice President Wang Weichen.
Liaoning Province DUFLEDF is a non-public foundation, receiving funds from individuals and organizations for the purpose of financially supporting DUFL. Opening the meeting, Vice President Yang Junfeng explained that the Educational Department of Liaoning Province approved the founding of DUFLEDF. The names of the founders of Foundation Council and Board of Supervisors DUFLEDF included Mr. Jin Chuanyi who was named President of the DUFLEDF Council, Liu Liguo Vice President, and Ren Decheng Secretary.
General Accountant and President of the Council Jin Chuanyi accepted the donations from alumni Tao Sen, Chen Xuan, Wang Yunya, and Han Chao, and issued certificates to recognize their support and financial contributions.
Alumni representative Madame Chen Xuan, Grade 89 German graduate, in her remarks expressed her hope that their donation would encourage students to study hard and help students in financial need to finish their schooling.
Foundation President Jin Chuanyi in his remarks promised that the foundation will diligently adhere to all the government and university regulations, with plans to receive additional donations which will contribute to the educational mission of DUFL.
On behalf of DUFL, Vice Secretary of Party Committee Li Baozhang in his speech highly thanked the support ofalumni. He also raised three wishes: first, the foundation will fully understand its mission and push the work of talent cultivation. Second, the foundation will strengthen management and supervision. Third, the foundation will enhance innovation awareness. DUFL will try its best to support the work of foundation and make it develop properly and healthily.
Party Secretary Liu Ximing and DUFL President Liu Hong, who were on business, sent congratulatory letters. All the representatives and participants, at the end of the meeting, took a group photo to mark the occasion.
