Studying in a foreign country is scary. It’s a new environment, new language and a new school, however its important to remain calm in the anxiety of it all. I know, easier said than done.

- Learn the language, you don’t have to be exquisitely proficient but its important to know enough to get you around. Remember, china is going to be your home for the duration of your course.
- Stay focused, its easy to lose yourself I the fast paced life of a new country with no support structure from family to remind you stay grounded, so a large part of your success will lie in your ability to say “no” when you’re offered to go out and have a good time
- Try drawing up a budget. This helps in planning yourself and giving you an idea with where you stand in terms of your monthly and day-to-day expenses.
- Stay fit. Don’t neglect your health simply because you were thrown into the deep end really quick. Eat healthily and exercise regularly.
- Draw up a study timetable and implement some sort of reprimanding, should you not follow it.
You might read this and think, ‘these are things I already know’ but I assure you, being reminded of what you should do makes doing it a lot easier.
