President Yan Xiaohong Attended the Second China-Mexico Principal Forum
Jointly organized by Chinese Ministry of Education and Mexican Ministry of Public Education, the Second China-Mexico Principal Forum was held in Beijing on March 27th. Li Hai (Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, China), Sheng Jianxue (Secretary General of the China Education Association for International Exchange), Enrique Escorza (Minister of the Mexican Embassy in China), Jaime Valls Esponda (Secretary General of the Mexican Higher Education Association) attended the forum and addressed the audience. Prof. Yan Xiaohong, the president of JSU, Prof. Li Zhongxing, Director of International Office of JSU attended the forum.
Prof. Yan Xiaohong delivered a lecture entitled The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education, highlighting measures and achievements of innovation and entrepreneurship training of JSU to more than 100 delegates from 49 Chinese and Mexican institutions. He also expressed the willingness to cooperate with Mexican universities to consult joint postgraduates programmes in the field of engineering and recruit long-term and short-term Mexican exchange students.
The China-Mexico Principal Forum is an annual forum according to “the Memorandum of Understanding on Promoting Educational Cooperation and Development” between China and Mexico. The forum aims to promote understanding and cooperation between universities in higher education innovation as well as in the area of entrepreneurship and STEM (short for science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education.
Consul General of India in Shanghai Attended the Opening Ceremony of Indian Film Week at JSU
On March 17th, Prakash Gupta, Consul General of India in Shanghai, visited JSU and attended the opening ceremony of the India Film Week in Zhenjiang City. Prof. Yan Xiaohong, the President of JSU, delivered a speech at the ceremony. Prof. Chen Long, the Vice President of JSU, welcomed the guests and signed a friendly cooperation agreement about the students exchange with Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) and Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS). Zhang Zhonghua (Deputy Director of Zhenjiang Foreign Affairs Office), along with the leaders of the International Office and Overseas Education College of JSU also participated in the event.
JSU has a good cooperative relationship with several Indian universities. Such as Flame University, Kaziranga University, Gujarat Technological University, Jadavpur University and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology. Currently, there are more than 200 Indian students studying at JSU.
The Indian Film Week,an important part of the Indian Culture Week in Zhenjiang City, is a festival organized by the Indian Consulate General in Shanghai and the People's Government of Zhenjiang City. It includes the Indian Art Exhibition, the Indian Food Festival, the Indian Film Week, the Indian Business Forum, the Indian Dance Party and other colorful cultural exchange acctivities between China and India. During the Film Week, the audience enjoyed many classical Indian films, such as "Oh My God", "Queen", "Taare Zameen Par", "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag", "Mary Kom", and"English Vinglish".
Jiangsu University Ranked 8th Nationwide in the Number of Invention Patents in 2016
The national rankings of Top 50 Universities for Invention Patents granted in 2016 and Top 50 Universities for Effective Invention Patents relessed by Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Education, granted by the Dec. 2016. According to the data, the number of invention patents granted in 2016 to Jiangsu University is 884. This puts JSU at the 8th rank at national level, keeping JSU within the top 10 for two consecutive years. By the end of 2016, the number of effective invention patents granted to JSU is 2634, ranking 12th among the national universities.
As part of the first group of pilot universities for national standardization of intellectual property management, Jiangsu University focuses on strengthening the construction of patent management information platform, patent quality control and innovation of patent operation mechanism, and so on. As a result, this improves the intellectual property management system and promotes the standardization of the university’s intellectual property management.
