From November 5 to 6, 2016, the 6th Chinese Youth Academic Forum and the Academic Forum on New media and New Youth: Political Participation and Social Development organized by CYUPS was held in Beijing. More than a hundred experts and scholars from various universities attended the forum, of which there were Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Communication University of China, Fudan University, Xiamen University, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Missouri School of Journalism and Shih Hsin University.
The forum aimed to build a platform for academic exchanges on youth research, and to explore the connotation and forms of youth political participation in the era of post-mass communication, the impact of new media on the development and growth of youth and the harmonious relationship between establishing “youth-friendly” communication and youth development.
CYUPS Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee and CYUPS Executive Vice-president Professor Wang Xinqing and Dean of Institute of Journalism and Communication at Chinese Academy of Social Science and Researcher Mr. Tang Xujun attended the opening ceremony and respectively delivered a speech. Deputy Dean of CYUPS Department of Journalism Mr. Luo Ziwen presided over the opening ceremony, at which the Research Center of Social Development and Health Communication initiated by CYUPS School of Journalism was formally established.
The Instrument Group of CYUPS Art Troupe Participated in Beijing College Students Music Festival Exhibition Performing Session and Won Three Silver Awards
Recently, the 2016 Beijing College Students Music Festival (instrumental music) organized by Education Work Committee of CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Beijing Municipal Education Commission was held in Beijing. The Instrument Group of CYUPS Art Troupe participated and won three silver awards in the exhibition performing session.
CYUPS Instrument Group is composed of two teams—the Traditional Instruments Orchestra who mainly use Chinese zither, Erhu, Chinese lute, flute and dulcimer and the Western Instruments Orchestra who mainly use stringed instruments, piano and western concert flute.
In the category for groups of colleges and universities with no students specializing in arts,the Traditional Instruments Orchestra played Plum-blossom in Three Movements and Song of the Four Seasons; in the category of chamber folk music ensemble, the Traditional Instruments Orchestra played the Chinese zither ensemble of Glowing Red Morningstar Lilies; in the category of chamber western music competition, the Western Instruments Orchestra played Spring of the Four Seasons, and Red Star Concerto. Eventually, they won silver awards in all these three categories.
Compared with other groups of the Art Troupe, the Instrument Group is the youngest so it faces the challenges of lack of team members and the incompleteness for the cast of the orchestra. In order to prepare for the exhibition performing session, the group members practiced hard for two long months under the guidance of professional teachers.
CYUPS Representative Team Won Second Prize in Moot Court Contest for Beijing College Students
On November 26, 2016, the 8th Moot Court Contest for Beijing College Students came to a perfect ending. The representative team from CYUPS School of Law competed in turn with teams from Tianjin University of Science & Technology, China University of Mining and Technology and Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. With two wins and one loss, it finally won the second prize of the contest.
CYUPS representative team was composed of School of Law students of class 2013 Ma Ming, Dai Qi, Ding Chen, Zhu Yizhen, Bai Yanyan, and Lin Jian, and all of them were Debate Club members.
The Debate Club of CYUPS School of Law was established in May 2013. In the past three years, it has participated in various competitions and made remarkable achievements. The Moot Court Contest for Beijing College Students, a key contest of this sort, has always been valued and the teams have always been supported to participate in it by the School of Law and Department of Teaching Affairs.
