The program of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics has had a long history since its establishment. It is devoted to cultivating excellent talents for Mathematics education practice and research. Through learning general course on teacher education along with knowledge and methodology related to Mathematics, students will be equipped with essential skills and capability of Mathematics teaching for Middle school; through training on computer and Mathematics software, students will grasp ability to take up relevant research, teaching, software developing and other practical problem handling. This program aims to lay a foundation for students becoming advanced professional talents of teaching, research, management and exploitation in Middle school education and science and technology department, meanwhile sending first-class backup personnel of Mathematics scientific research to universities and scientific research institutions.
This is a four-year undergraduate program, which can be completed within a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years according to students’ specific circumstances.
A total of 174 credits are required upon the completion of the program, including 49 credits of General Education Curriculum, 37 credits of Basic Curriculum, 45 credits of Professional Essential Curriculum, 23 credits of Teacher Education Curriculum and 20 credits of Elective Curriculum.
Students who have fulfilled all courses stipulated in the teaching plan with qualified achievements, and meet the requirement of “the Academic Degrees Regulation of People’s Republic of China” and “Higher Education of Undergraduate Bachelor’s Degree Awarding Regulations of Nanjing Normal University (Amendment)”, will be awarded Bachelor’s Degree of Science.
