Teaching Objective

Through the courses, students are expected to learn basic theories, fundamental professional knowledge and practical skills of fashion design as well as understand the conception of design and learn the design methods. The programme emphasizes on the firm combination of theory and practice, merging the courses with international design trends to help students have a good command of the correct way of fashion design. Moreover, it focuses on training the conceptualization of design and innovation thinking to enable graduates to become high-ranking professionals in fashion design with a global vision, strong design consciousness and market competitiveness.

The students will learn the basic theories of design and the basic skills of creative fashion design, understand the operation of the international fashion industry, and be familiar with the new trend of the internationa l creative fashion design. The students will have a solid knowledge of fashion history, and master the skills of fashion design, pattern and technology. The students will be able to analyze the fashion market with innovative thinking, have a good sense of aesthetics and the comprehensive ability for fashion and accessory design; The students will be able to communicate in English in any social and professional environment.

Career Development

Graduates may work for Chinese and international fashion brands, luxury brands,design studios, fashion publishing and media, or engage in fashion design, fabric design, garment pattern design, fashion editing, brand management and sales. Graduates are also encouraged to create personal fashion brands, establish design studios, or further study for a master's degree.

DHU has the most comprehensive disciplines in the Textile and Fashion fields in China.
"Design Studies" is the Shanghai municipal key discipline, ranked No. 6 in China and No. 1 in Shanghai in the third academic evaluation organized by Ministry of Education of China in 2012.

Native English speaker and applicants whose high school study were taken in English are exempted from English requirement.

5. Personal statement in English essay format

More than 400 words, which may describe yourself, your interests, your future career plan and the reasons to choose DHU.

6. Personal creative design portfolio recorded in a CD disk

No limits on formats required but designs relating to proposed majors are preferred. The works need to be shot by DV with your own oral English presentation of design concepts to reflect your understanding of professional knowledge, skills and creat

Question: What is the cost of applying through ACASC?

Answer: ACASC charges a service fee of 50$ for using its online application portal. Applying through ACASC into Chinese universities attracts a service fee of $50.

Question: Can I apply to the university directly?

Answer: Yes. ACASC gives the applicants, the chance to directly apply to their desired universities through our online application portal. We have synchronized our system to create a simple platform that connects universities and colleges in China to international students all around the world.

Question: How can I track my application status?

Answer: To track the application status, please log in your ACASC personal account. Whenever there’s an update, you will be informed on your application status through ACASC system within a day as soon as we receive university’s notification. You will simultaneously receive ACASC auto-email about the application status. Question: How to deal with a pending application?

Answer: When an application is pending a decision it means that your school has received it and no admissions decision has been made yet. The admissions office may have reviewed your application package or may not have.

The main cause of a pending application is usually incomplete application documents. As a result you will be requested by the school’s admission office to re-check and modify all submitted application documents or perhaps even add extra documents and then re-submit them.

To avoid further delays, carefully read the university’s comments, modify your application form on ACASC, and re-upload the required application documents. You can contact ACASC on admission@acasc.cnfor any help with regards to your pending application

Question: How long does it take to process my application?

Answer: Processing time varies for different applications. For example to process a degree program application requires more time than a Chinese language application. Confirmation for Chinese language application by the admission office usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. However, time for degree programs application differs. For example fall semester application processing is after March, and it takes a period of 1 to 2 months. This also depends on your qualification and the number of applicants.
