Objectives
The Environmental Science’s undergraduate program aims to cultivate senior professionals with solid fundamental on theories, knowledge and skills of environmental science, to work in government, research institutions, universities, enterprises, institutions and government departments engaged in scientific research, education, environmental protection and environmental management, or to continue their educational/academic careers.
Requirements upon the completion of the program:
(1) to master Lenin Marx, Mao Zedong thought and the theory system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and master the knowledge and application skills of foreign languages, information technology, computer applications etc.;
(2) to master mathematics, basic physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, etc., to understand the theoretical frontier in the natural environment science, environmental science and technology and environmental humanities and social science, to comprehensively master the fundamental theory and knowledge of environmental science;
(3) to master the background skills of environmental experiment, the skills of literature retrieval and the use of modern technology such as computer access to relevant information, and has a certain scientific research ability;
(4) using multi-disciplinary knowledge, to find, analyze and solve the problems of environmental quality control with scientific research and practical work ability, and innovative thinking.
2. Program Duration, Total Credits and Authorization of Degrees
This is a four-year undergraduate program, which can be completed within a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven year.
A total of 168 credits are required upon the completion of the program, including 49 credits of courses allocated in General Education Curriculum, 39 credits in Basic Curriculum, 50 credits in Essential Curriculum and 30 credits in Elective Curriculum. The Basic and Essential curricula are compulsory for a Bachelor’s Degree.
Students who complete the listed courses within the present Undergraduate programs and get the required credits, in line with "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Academic Degrees" and "Regulations (Revised edition) of Nanjing Normal University on Bachelor's Degrees of General Higher Education for Undergraduate Students", could be awarded Bachelor's Degree on Science.
