Disaster prevention and reduction engineering and protective engineering are the marginal disciplines in civil engineering disciplines, and play an important role in the implementation of sustainable development strategies in China. The main tasks of the discipline are: to establish and develop scientific theories, design methods and engineering measures to improve the engineering structure and engineering system against natural disasters and man-made disasters, to minimize the possible damage caused by future disasters and ensure the people’s lives and property. Safeguard the ability of post-disaster economic recovery and development and improve the national disaster prevention capability of major projects.

The focus of this subject research work is on the disaster phenomena that emerged during the construction and operation of major land transportation lines. The combination of engineering science and modern technology is used to study the formation conditions of common disasters, disaster models, forecasts, prevention and control engineering optimization, and disaster prevention management. Issues such as information technology, improve the resilience of traffic trunks. In this subject, there is a vigorous research team composed of young doctors and professors. Due to the characteristics of marginal disciplines, the research team composition has strong cross-disciplinary characteristics, and the research field focuses on frontier and basic issues.
