Nanjing Normal University was approved to set up the program of Radio and Television Scenarist and Directorin 2000 and began to enroll new students in 2001. The program is a combination of radio and television technology as well as art, follow the educational philosophy that liberal arts and science are interpenetrated with each other, technology and art are combined together, software and hardware are possessed simultaneously, lay more emphasis on organic unity of students self-regulated learning and teachers professional guidance, and probe into the personnel training mode suitable forart development of radio and television industrythrough reasonably organizing the curriculums, optimizing the teaching structure andcarrying out the experiment in the Workshop.

Because of abundant faculty, advanced teaching philosophy andfirst-class laboratory equipment, great achievements have been made in the teaching of Radio and Television Scenarist and Director.Nowadays, a large number of outstanding graduates have been cultivated by virtue of this program, active in national television news media at all levels, various media production and cultural units, and become important forces inmass cultureof China.

Theprogram aims to cultivate scenarists and directors with correct political orientation, who firmly advocate the leadership of Chinese communist party, love the socialist motherland, have a scientific world outlook, outlook on life and values, a sense of social responsibility and professional dedication, a good moral sentiment and professional morality, are able to collaborate with others, observe the law and discipline, andlove their jobs in radio and television news.

After studying the program, students will master relevant knowledge of broadcasting television science;grasp professional skillssuch as broadcasting and TV program planning, writing and directing, producing; be competent atradio and TV program planners, scenaristsand directors, copy writers, cameramen, editors, announcers and presenters, etc.;be engaged in production and transmission of all kinds of images products including audio and video programs in thebroadcasting stations, television stations, production companies of audio and video products,marketing companies of audio and video products, advertising companies, planning and propaganda departments of enterprises and public institutions, and other related media companies.

This is a four-year undergraduate program. The program duration can be shortened or extended appropriatelyaccording to students actual conditions,at a minimum of three years and a maximum of seven years.

A total of 159 credits are required upon the completion of the program, including curriculums ofgeneral education of 49 credits, basic curriculumsof 29 credits, essential curriculumsof 51credits andelective curriculums of 30 credits.

A student willbe awarded with abachelors degree of Artsafter completing the courses stipulated in the program, namely, after he or she getstotal credits according to theRegulations of the People's Republic of China on Academic Degrees and Regulations of Awarding the Bachelors Degree of Nanjing Normal University.

• Question: What is the cost of applying through ACASC?

Answer: To track the application status, please log in your ACASC personal account. • Question: How to deal with a pending application?

Answer: When an application is pending a decision it means that your school has received it and no admissions decision has been made yet. The admissions office may have reviewed your application package or may not have.

The main cause of a pending application is usually incomplete application documents. As a result you will be requested by the school’s admission office to re-check and modify all submitted application documents or perhaps even add extra documents and then re-submit them.

To avoid further delays, carefully read the university’s comments, modify your application form on ACASC, and re-upload the required application documents. You can contact ACASC on admission@acasc.cn for any help with regards to your pending application

• How long does it take to process my application?

Processing time varies for different applications. For example to process a degree program application requires more time than a Chinese language application. Confirmation for Chinese language application by the admission office usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. However, time for degree programs application differs. For example fall semester application processing is after March, and it takes a period of 1 to 2 months. This also depends on your qualification and the number of applicants.
