Pharmaceutical engineering is a branch of pharmaceutical science and technology that involves development and manufacturing of products, processes, and components in the pharmaceuticals industry (i.e. drugs & biologics). While developing pharmaceutical products involves many interrelated disciplines (e.g. medicinal chemists, analytical chemists, clinicians/pharmacologists, pharmacists, chemical engineers, biomedical engineers, etc.), the specific subfield of "pharmaceutical engineering" has only emerged recently as a distinct engineering discipline. This now brings the problem-solving principles and quantitative training ofengineering to complement the other scientific fields already involved in drug development.

Henan University of Science and Technology (HAUST), located in the thousand-year ancient capital and the peony flower city of Luoyang, is one of the three comprehensive universities of Henan Province. HAUST is composed of four campuses covering a total area of over 307 hectares with more than 60,000 Chinese full-time undergraduates, postgraduates, part-time adult students, and international students. In 2008, the university’s undergraduate teaching work was assessed as Excellence by the Higher Education Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Education.

HAUST was founded in Beijing in 1952, moved to Luoyang in 1956 and then renamed as Luoyang Institute of Technology (LIT). In 2002, with the approval of China Ministry of Education, LIT amalgamated another two colleges to form the third comprehensive university of the province--Henan University of Science and Technology. Prime Minister Li keqiang (Henan provincial governor then) extended great expectations to HAUST at the Opening Ceremony.

• Question: How to deal with a pending application?

Answer: When an application is pending a decision it means that your school has received it and no admissions decision has been made yet. The admissions office may have reviewed your application package or may not have.

The main cause of a pending application is usually incomplete application documents. As a result you will be requested by the school’s admission office to re-check and modify all submitted application documents or perhaps even add extra documents and then re-submit them.

• How long does it take to process my application?

Answer: Processing time varies for different applications. For example to process a degree program application requires more time than a Chinese language application. Confirmation for Chinese language application by the admission office usually takes 2 to 4 weeks. However, time for degree programs application differs.
