This subject is based on the research bases of the General Administration of Sport of China in humane and sociological science of sports, as well as the sports science and technology research institute of Zhejiang University. This subject was approved to offer MA degree in 1986. Now there are 3 professors, 3 vice professors and more than 100 graduated students with MA degrees.
The research fields of this subject include: integrated researches across countries, districts and cultures; theories and practices of sports industries; theories and practices of school sports, standards of students’ health; sports sociological psychology, competition and exercise psychology; leisure sports and research methods of sports. The research levels in these fields are the top in China. There are also exchanges and cooperation between scholars from this department and from other countries, such as America, Japan and Korea. There is an average of 4 projects, including provincial, domestic and international ones every year. Other kinds of projects are more than this number. We have won provincial second-level awards for three times and awards of Hang Zhou City for more times. More than 160 papers have been published, as well as more than 20 teaching books and treatises.
