Mission

The mission of the program is to promote and develop students’ ability and skills of “operation, management, and entrepreneurship”. By taking full advantage of the existing excellent entrepreneurial resources in Wenzhou, the teaching and training process of the program is focusing on entrepreneurship, business operation and management, and business practice. With active interaction with enterprises in Wenzhou, this program aims to improve students’ knowledge structure and entrepreneurship talents with multidisciplinary backgrounds as well as international perspectives. In addition, the program provides opportunities for the students to conduct internships in enterprises operation management and business start-up design practice to enhance their perceptual and cognitive abilities as well as entrepreneurship development.

Mode

The program offers a practical approach to training the students’ entrepreneurship by adopting a “3+1” mode, featured with abundant opportunities of visiting and internship in enterprises and entrepreneurial practice. The students spend the first three years learning entrepreneurship by an integration of business theory and practice, entrepreneurship guidance, as well as entrepreneurship practice. In the fourth year, students participate in specialized entrepreneurship projects as well as internship in enterprises to enhance their connection to industry and develop as future business leaders. The entrepreneurship practice and internship of the students are carried out under the joint-supervision of academic mentors (theoretical knowledge) and enterprise mentors (industry practice experience).

Core courses

Theoretical courses:

1. Entrepreneurship Economics: comprehensive knowledge of business principles, economics, management, and entrepreneurship to improve the entrepreneurship talents of the students.

2. Entrepreneurship Practice of Small and Medium Enterprises: practice guidance on how to capture business opportunities, establish organization structure, sketch business plan, achieve financial support, make tax planning, e-commerce, etc.

3. Wenzhou Mode and Entrepreneur Spirit: introduction to characteristics of Wenzhou manufacturing, marketing, family-based business management, and its entrepreneurship spirit.

Practical training courses:

1. Entrepreneurial Management: introduction to the pattern and principles, as well as the unique characteristics of entrepreneurial activities.

2. Financial Management: principle, methods and skills of financial management.

3. Human Resource Management: introduction to planning skills, work analysis, recruitment, training, performance management, and salary system.

4. Marketing: developing ability of solving marketing matters, comprising buying behavior, marketing mix, and procedures of marketing practice.

5. Business Plan: practice of techniques and skills of business planning.

6. New Media Marketing: practice the ability of using online, mobile and outdoor media, etc.

7. Entrepreneurial Project Simulation: profit-based practical entrepreneurial business operation.

Job prospects

1. Entrepreneur business start-up: the university offers opportunities as well as start-up fund and scholarship for the graduates to start their entrepreneur business in Wenzhou University Venture Park. Connections with investment companies for further financial support are also provided.

2. International companies: graduates can also seek job opportunities in numerous international trade companies in China.

3. Master programs: graduates wish to pursue further studies can be nominated to apply the master program in University of Cattolica (Italy) and Babson College (America), which have collaboration agreement with Wenzhou University.

School of Business in Wenzhou University, rooted in the features of management practice in Wenzhou, is devoted to building a specialized and high-impact “Cradle of Entrepreneur” and is committed to high quality contributions to knowledge and practice in the field of business practice. The school’s strengths are grounded in a long standing tradition of close integration with the active spirit of entrepreneur and close engagement with enterprises in Wenzhou. It had established 8 research centers focusing on Wenzhou economic research (provincial research platform), Wenzhou financial research (municipal research platform), national economy, family business and entrepreneurship, etc. In recent five years, our staff had undertaken more than a hundred of research grants in national, provincial and municipal level, the research findings of which had been highly recognized by the academic, government, and society.

With a strong faculty staff team, the school offers 4 key and specialized undergraduate programs (international economics and trade, finance, marketing, and financial management) and 1 provincial key postgraduate program (socialist market economy theory and practice). The school’s teaching practice is equipped with 13 demonstration centers and laboratories where students can conduct business practice in ERP system, information management, financial management, simulation experiment of import and export business, business negotiation, stocks trade, etc. Under the supervision of Zhejiang business practice and Entrepreneur preparation courses, the students had undertaken more than 10 national innovation and entrepreneurship projects and won up to 80 awards in national, provincial and municipal competitions.
